Crown's Million Dollar Cash Game

The 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship broke from its traditional tournament schedule, spreading a cash-game with a million-dollar buy-in some of the world's most famed and deep-pocketed players. The game started as a duel between two of the biggest of all, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius, with five more big names - Jamie Pickering, Andrew Robl, Niki Jedlicka, Phil Laak and Chris Ferguson - later joining in.

The new king of poker was crowned when Australian Stewart Scott won the 2009 Aussie Millions No-Limit Holdem Main Event, surviving a 681-player field loaded with top tournament pros, internet qualifiers and world champions, claiming the chip lead at the end of Day #4 and holding it throughout the final table to collect the champion title worth AUD $2 million, the custom made Poker Allure championship bracelet.
Six Handed No-Limit Holdem

A field of 266 players was on hand for Friday's opening day of action in 2009 Aussie Millions Event #14 – $2,200 Six-Handed No-Limit Holdem. Among the entrants were WSOP bracelet holder Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, online stars Michael Guzzardi, James Obst and Tony Dunst, Joe Hachem, Chris Ferguson and Lee Nelson.
Adam Peck Pockets a Win

Busting out of the Main Event doesn't mean one's time at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship has ended, and 86 players gathered around the felt to prove that as Event #13 - $1,100 Mixed Hold'em, kicked off. Just one of several side events going in the Crown Poker Room as the Main Event drew closer to the final table.
Binger Scores the Bling

A small but impressive field of 42 action junkies and online whiz kids took part in the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Event #12 - $3,250 Pot-Limit Omaha with Rebuys. Contributing a whopping 87 rebuys, top pros such as Chris Ferguson, David "Chino" Rheem, Tony G and James Obst lined up with their rebuy chips at the ready.
Lee "Final Table" Nelson Takes the PLO

Lee Nelson came into the final table of the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Event #11 - $1,100 Pot Limit Omaha, in the middle of the pack, but quickly asserted himself as the dominant force among the final nine. Nelson took out most of the competition himself on the way to his first Aussie Millions title of 2009 and the AUD $32,400 top prize.

The 320 surviving Day 1 players returned to the felt for Day 2 on Wednesday at the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event. Notable returning names include Joe Hachem, Scotty Nguyen, Patrik Antonius and Tony G, but it was two young women, Annica Ivert and Annette Obrestad who led the field at the end of the day.
Impressive Star-Studded Field for Day 1C

With a huge 288 players taking to the felt for Day 1C of the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event , the total number of Main Event entrants jumped to an impressive 681. Some of the hot-shot poker pros included Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Clonie Gowen, Phil Laak and Lee "Final Table" Nelson. Other stars who've claimed their star-studded status off the felt included cricket legend Shane Warne, actor Michael Vartan, jockey Shane Dye, tennis star Mark Philippoussis and world champion boxer Jeff Fenech.
Crown Poker Satellite Winner Tops Day 1B Chip Lead

Day 1B of the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event drew more poker players than Day 1A's opening session. Day 1b's field consisted of 2008 champion Alexander Kostritsyn, 2008 runner-up Erik Seidel, Annette Obrestad, Chris Ferguson, Grant Levy, Ivan Demidov, Jeff Madsen and many others.
Local Fashion Designer Perched Atop Day 1a Chip Lead

The 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event kicked off on Sunday with music, dancers and words of encouragement from Joe Hachem. 191 players took to the felt for Day 1a of the Main Event, with top pros James Potter, Tony G, Sorel Mizzi, Patrik Antonius, John Hennigan and Sam Khouiss among those in the field. At the end of the day, local fashion designer and poker player Christopher Chronis took Hachem's words to heart, leading the session's play, with Patrik Antonius close behind.
Poker Big Guns No Challenge for David Steicke

Poker hot shots descended upon the Crown Poker Room for the biggest buy-in tournament for the 2009 Aussie Millions, Event #8 - $100,000 No Limit Holdem Challenge. Players such as Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Gus Hansen, Chris Ferguson, Nam Le and JC Tran were on hand for the two day event.
Saidal Wardak Feats Bounty Shootout

Event #7 of the 2009 Aussie Millions featured one of the most unique formats on the tournament circuit. The $1,650 No-Limit Hold'em tournament was a bounty event, with one player at each table sporting a bounty tag around their neck. Whoever could eliminate the bounty player collected AUD$1,000 prize on the spot. Players were given only 20 seconds to act on each hand, with no extensions.
Kassis Takes Event Six

No Limit Hold'em action returned to the Crown Poker Room on Thursday with Event #6 - $1,150 No Limit Holdem with Rebuys. The 126 entrants rebought a staggering 457 times to create the largest prize pool so far for the 2009 Aussie Millions. Top players from around the world joined the fray including Kelly Kim, Alexander Kostritsyn, Ivan Demidov, Sorel Mizzi, Jeff Lisandro and Michael Pedley.
Soloman Rides the H.O.R.S.E

With a limit of eight players per table, the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E became the first event of the 2009 Aussie Millions to reach its maximum possible attendance. 96 players and two alternates spread across 12 tables for Event #5 in the busy Crown Poker Room to try their hands at the popular mixed-game tournament. The H.O.R.S.E event rotated through five different games: hold'em, Omaha hi/lo, razz, seven-card stud and stud hi/lo.
Zach Takes it to the Limit

Min bet madness returned to Crown today with Event #4 - $1,100 Limit Holdem. The Crown Poker Room was full of experience with many players returning to their poker roots with the game they were first introduced too, but the experienced players couldn't seem to pull rank over the new kids on the block, with the final three players all under the age of 20.
Silverfox Outsmarts Tough Field in Event Three

Although smaller in size, Event #3 of the Aussie Millions was always going to bring about one of the toughest fields of the championship. The $1,100 Omaha HiLo is one of the more specialist tournaments on the calendar, which brought out many familiar faces with the odd spattering of new blood looking to take home an Aussie Millions ring.
Heich Takes Home the Gold in Event One

Out of a record 731 entrants, only 110 players returned to the Crown Poker Room for Day Two of Event #1, $1,100 No Limit Holdem in the 2009 Aussie Millions. Dean Blatt started the day as chip leader, but it was Christian Heich from Germany who emerged from as the champion and the first winner of one of the new Aussie Millions championship rings.
