Day 2... Ladies Night
The 320 surviving Day 1 players returned to the felt for Day 2 on Wednesday at the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event. Notable returning names include Joe Hachem, Scotty Nguyen, Patrik Antonius and Tony G, but it was two young women, Annica Ivert and Annette Obrestad who led the field at the end of the day.
Noteable departures include Saidal Wardak, Neil Channing, Billy "The Croc" Argyros, Mark Vos, Tony G, David Saab, Ivan Demidov, James Obst and Phil Laak as the field shrunk rapidly to less than 100 survivors.
Day 2 was rough on even the worlds biggest champions as Scotty Nguyen and Joe Hachem struggled to make it through, both finishing the day with short stacks.
On the other hand, 2007 WSOPE Main Event champion Annette Obrestad started Day 2 with two early double-ups, setting her pace for the day to finish just behind fellow Team Betfair member Annica Ivert.
Annette Obrestad has achieved more as a young woman the most women have in their career, starting in online freerolls, she now owns a bankroll of millions without depositing a single cent into an online account. Obrestad took out the title of the WSOP Europe Main Event Champion in London, taking home a nice $2 million. For an encore she went to Dublin and made second place in the EPT Europe Main Event. Now she's in Melbourne on stage once again, sitting atop a monstorous chip stack for the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event.
Annica Ivert came into the tournament via a Betfair qualifier finished the day with the chip lead as the top ten chip stacks looked like this:
Annica Ivert -- 555,900
Annette Obrestad -- 454,800
Rajkumar Ramakrishnan -- 388,200
David Docherty -- 362,000
Stewart Scott -- 348,000
Karl Bullock -- 347,900
Patrik Antonius -- 335,900
Michael Tureniec -- 332,000
