Welcome Letter
WELCOME
Dear Media Member
Thank you for your interest in Crown’s 2013 Aussie Millions Poker Championship.
Outside of the World Series of Poker, the Aussie Millions is regarded by many as the best poker series in the world, as it is more than just an international poker tournament. With an expanding range of non-gaming related events including the Australian Open Tennis Championship, Chinese New Year celebrations, exclusive parties, luxury golf days, premium winery trips, shopping tours and much more, giving participants even more reasons to visit Australia’s most liveable city in January.
This year, Crown will continue to provide daily email updates. These emails will provide information on the winners of each event, final payouts and storylines that develop. So the good news is, even if you can’t make it to Melbourne, or if you contact us to be added to our media email distribution list, we will ensure you get the daily email updates.
For reporting media only, please refer to the ‘Media Accreditation’ section for the Application Form and Crown Management Guidelines.
The closing date for Media Accreditation Applications is Monday 7 January 2013.
Prior to submitting the forms to Crown for consideration, ensure that you and your teams have read and understood the Management Guidelines. Upon Crown approval, an email notification will be distributed advising of your accreditation status.
Accreditation Access Passes will be available for collection from midday on Thursday 17 January 2013 from the Aussie Millions Media Centre located within the Crown Poker Room, High Limit Area.
Media Access is ‘restricted’ to certain areas of the Crown Poker Room (this is determined by media status and work priority, and is also affected by security and Occupational Health & Safety procedures).
Crown’s goal is to provide the best possible service to all journalists and management granted credentials. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to working with you.
Kind regards
NATASHA STIPANOV

| Internet: | A free wireless hotspot service (or Wi-Fi) is available at Crown’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship. This system is the same as is found in large hotels and airports. Wi-Fi refers to a system which enables wireless connection to the Internet via a network card inserted in to a laptop. Service provision applies to the Crown Poker Room, Aussie Millions Media Centre, Aussie Millions HQ (The West End at Crown) (venue for the Main Event ‘Final Table’) and both Crown Towers, Crown Promenade and Crown Metropol hotels. |
| Internet Security: |
This service will be protected from the Internet by a dedicated firewall. However, the security of the data on your personal laptop will remain your responsibility. It is recommended that individuals install personal firewall software on their laptops to prevent hackers on-site using the Wi-Fi service and externally via the Internet. It is also recommended that all email and file transfers be encrypted when using this wireless hotspot service. A simple change in your email software can enable this feature. These precautions should already be in place by those who use the Internet regularly. Accredited Media representatives utilising the wireless hotspot must have the latest anti-virus protection software installed on their laptop. |
| Testing: | Australian-based media who would like to trial the service pre-Tournament should contact the Crown Media Relations Department. We also welcome assisting major agencies by setting up added security services like selected Virtual Private Networks (VPNS). |
| Contingency: | With the assistance of our Internet Service Provider (ISP), we have a number of contingency plans in place, in the event of any problems with the hotspot service. These range from multiple links to our ISP, dual connections from our ISP to the internet and multiple base stations for coverage. |
| Facilities: | Limited desk space, bottled water, light refreshments (during the Main Event only) and power provided at no charge. |
| Security: | Crown takes no responsibility for any equipment or property brought into the Media Centre. |
